This would be round two of my Blue Rodeo experience. I saw Blue Rodeo about two years ago in the very same venue. For many, many years I have tried to see them without much luck because the tickets have always sold out.
Now many, many years later I have managed to see them TWICE in less than five years. Most of that is due to the fact they have being around SO long and many fans have put them into the "old band" category. What does this mean? It's means that only half of Prospera Place was used for the show and out of that half of stadium only about 80% of the seats were sold. That's a pretty sad turnout for such a GREAT band. I have always called Blue Rodeo Canada's Eagles. Their songs resonate with the tone and morality of Canada in general. It's just sad that so many people don't appreciate what they bring to the table.

It's kind of a bit sad for me knowing that MANY of the artists from the past, especially Blue Rodeo, have been relegated to the bargain bin of music for more popular choices. These guys are Canadian icons in my view and they always put their all into the music.
Blue Rodeo pretty well played most of their hits and they played a few new tunes too like Superstar. Their long time band is solid and it shows in the performance.

The Band
Blue Rodeo were solid as ALWAYS. All the songs were done very well and the acoustic versions of many of their songs (ie. Bad Timing) were done very well. Opening band Tara Lightfoot very much reminded me of a cross between Janis Joplin and Melissa Ethridge. She performed very well as well.
The Crowd:
Crowd was mostly older however there were many younger people in it. The crowd was fairly subdued and focused on the music.
Audience Interaction & Engagement: A
Quality and Diversity of Music: A
Stage Presence of Band A
Energy from the Crowd: C+
Notable Exceptions: It Could Happen to You, After the Rain.
Overall Rating for Show: A
